Two kinds of visits, priced two ways
Most confusion about electrician pricing comes from mixing up two different things: an estimate for work you want done, and a diagnosis of something that is not working. Hot Shot Electric Service Co. prices them differently, and we will tell you which one applies before anyone comes out.
Free estimates for planned work
If you want something added or replaced that we can see and price, the estimate is free. Examples: new outlets or circuits, a ceiling fan, lighting, a panel replacement, an EV charger circuit, outdoor kitchen wiring, a generator inlet, surge protection.
The diagnostic fee for problems
If something is not working and nobody knows why, finding the cause is the job. In plain terms, if we have to get our tools out to figure out what is wrong, there is a charge. The diagnostic fee covers a licensed journeyman at your home, the testing it takes to find the cause, and a roughly 20-point electrical safety inspection of the house.
The price before the work
After the diagnosis, you get a clear price for the repair before any work starts. You can approve it, ask questions, or take time to think it over. Nothing is done without your approval.
When the job turns out bigger
Electrical work is sometimes hidden: an open junction box in the attic, a damaged wire under the yard. When the scope changes, the journeyman stops, shows you what was found, often with a photo, and gives you the price for the added work. If you choose not to do it, that is your call.

Why we do not publish a price menu
A fixed menu price for "replace an outlet" or "new panel" sounds simple, but real prices depend on things nobody can see from a website: the age and brand of the panel, how far the circuit runs, what is in the wall, whether a permit is required, and whether PSO has to disconnect and reconnect the service. Rather than post numbers that are wrong for most homes, we give you an exact price for your home before any work starts. Reviewers often mention the result: fair prices, quotes that held, and sometimes a final bill lower than the estimate.
Warranty
Manufactured items Hot Shot Electric Service Co. installs, such as switches, outlets and breakers, carry a one-year warranty. If something we installed fails in that time, call and we will make it right.

Permits and PSO coordination
Panel, meter base and service work, new circuits and other work the city requires are permitted and inspected. Hot Shot Electric Service Co. pulls the permit, schedules the inspection and coordinates disconnect and reconnect times with PSO. Do I need a permit?
How to get an exact price fastest
- Tell us what you want done or what stopped working, and when.
- Send a photo of the open panel and its label for EV, circuit and panel questions.
- Mention the city, the age of the house and anything a home inspector flagged.
- Ask any question about the price before you approve it. You will get a straight answer.
On pricing, in customers' words
Fair, and quoted up front
This is the 2nd time we have had to have Hot Shots come out quickly because something went wrong. After repeated PSO outages in one day, part of our house wouldn't come back. They came the next day (we had ac) and took care of it quickly. Nothing but super helpful, reasonable...
Florence BreslinGoogle, 2026/09 They did a great job. Very professional. Great price. I wouldn’t think twice to hire them again if I need electrical done.
jbsimmons1Google, 2026/08 We have always been able to count on Hot Shot's integrity, honesty, and a fair price.
